Today was an all-day game drive on the Maasi Mara preserve (440 sq miles). The day started with an unplanned event...a flat tire on the Land Cruiser. A quick call to the Kenyan style AAA (two guys on a small motorcycle with a jack and tool box strapped on) and we were on our way!
The sights continue, as this is wildebeest migration time, and there are literally hundreds of thousands of this animal trekking across the preserve. We also witnessed a group of six elephants (three adults, two toddlers and a baby that could not have been more than a couple weeks old), a leopard lounging on a tree branch, a cheetah, several lions, giraffes at various locations (from singular up to a group of 11) and hippos. With these sightings today, we have completed the Big 5 (elephant, lion, water buffalo, leopard) and more.
Our driver did his good Samaritan deed of the day when we pulled out another safari vehicle out that was stuck way up over the axle. We were rewarded with a couple Tusker beers. Again, quite a day, and experiences that will last a lifetime.
